Effective evangelism requires effective communication, and part of that is a clear, consistent visual identity that conveys who we are and makes it easy for people to find us. The Invitation and Outreach Committee has been working on how we can improve our communication both online and in print. We’re excited to introduce a new logo in order to provide a clean, consistent, professional look for all our communications. The goal was to have a design that helps us communicate who we are—a place of welcome and inclusion, rich in history and tradition, deeply rooted in community and committed to living out the faith of Jesus Christ in word and deed.
Here’s what we hope you’ll see:
“Look, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut.” (Revelation 3:8)
The Open Doors:
The central image of the logo reflects our Mission Statement: We Are God’s Open House. We chose open doors to convey that welcome and hospitality are at the center of our ministry, and that God’s doors and ours are open to all. At the center of those open doors is light, reminding us of the Light of the World that no darkness can overcome.
Our life together revolves around the crucified and risen Lord, Jesus Christ. The Cross stands for God’s incredible, sacrificial love for us that frees us from sin and sets us free to new life. The crosses on the doors say that our church is a place of grace, redemption, and hope that overcomes unbeatable odds.
The Stained Glass:
We are, at our heart, a church with a great history and deep roots. First Presbyterian Church has been and will continue to be a pillar of the Pitman and South Jersey communitis. By including the outline and stained glass windows from our front doors, we show that we value our history, our roots, and our ties to our community.
We are a connectional church, and part of the PC(USA). To convey our connection to the Reformed Tradition and the PC(USA), we chose to use the same blue from PC(USA)’s logo for our own.
