The Margaret S. Cole and Susan Cole Lacy Scholarship
The Cole-Lacy Scholarship Fund is a permanent endowment of the First Presbyterian Church in Pitman, NJ for the purpose of providing annual scholarships for graduating high school seniors or college students. Preference will be given to students who are members of First Presbyterian Church in Pitman, who are involved in church activities, and who intend to major in education, music or ministry. However, all fields of study will be considered. Applications are welcome from high school, trade school, undergrad and graduate students who reside in the following New Jersey counties: Gloucester, Camden, Salem, and Cumberland.
Applicants are required to complete the attached application form and provide a copy of the Student Aid Report generated from their FAFSA application, which includes the Expected Family Contribution (EFC). Applicants are also required to prepare a 500-word essay describing their involvement in their faith community, how their faith has shaped them as an individual, and how it will continue to guide their life.
Completed applications are due in the church office at 10 Wildwood Avenue in Pitman by noon on May 12, 2023. Applications may also be submitted by email to office@pitmanpres.org. Under no circumstances will this application deadline be extended. Any application submitted after the deadline or that is incomplete will not be considered. Previous applicants are welcome to apply again this year, but the scholarship will not be awarded more than twice to any individual. At this time, it is our intention to present these scholarships in Sunday worship on Father’s Day, June 18, 2023, at 10 a.m. Students are strongly encouraged to be present during worship that morning to receive their scholarship.
