God's Open House

Covid Mask Update: Please Read

During the Covid-19 pandemic, we have worked consistently to be the church and to maintain the safest possible environment to come together for worship. This has taken many forms, from Online Worship Services to Zoom Compline, social distancing and mask-wearing. We have continually reevaluated our plans based on changing circumstances in our community and church family. You have responded amazingly with Christian love. We are deeply grateful for the grace that you have offered each other and how you have remained connected and engaged throughout this time.

Session voted on Monday to eliminate the requirement that we wear masks in worship together. Cases are down dramatically from their peak this January, and available vaccines, boosters and treatments have greatly improved our ability to fight the virus. We strongly encourage masking and social distancing, both to protect you and to protect others who are at higher levels of risk. We understand that some of you may be excited for this change, while others may be wary, and yet others may feel this change should have come months ago. Please be gracious with everyone as we continue to worship together as one body.

As Paul wrote to the Corinthians, “For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.” We thank you for living that commitment to be one body with one another throughout this time, and we look forward to joyfully serving the Lord with you as God’s Open House.

In Christ,

The Session of First Presbyterian Church
