This Sunday, March 22 at 5PM we are delighted to welcome a brand new artist to jazz vespers at First Presbyterian Church of Pitman: pianist, composer and arranger David Bennett Thomas. David is on the faculty of Philadelphia’s University of the Arts and has just released a brand new CD of his jazz arrangements of sacred songs entitled “Deep, Deep Love.” Thomas’ music has been featured on NPR, WWFM’s ‘Divertimento’ program, WVUD’s ‘Fine Tunings’ program and WRTI’s “Now Is The Time.” His music has been performed by The New York Treble Singers, The Brandywine Valley Chorale, The Chester County Pops Orchestra, The Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association, Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, The Gregg Smith Singers, The Chester County Choral Society, Naked Voices chorus (Israel) and many others.
In addition to his work as a composer, Thomas enjoys a second life as a jazz pianist, working steadily throughout the Philadelphia area jazz clubs and restaurants, including performances at The Clifford Brown Jazz Festival, and the Chadds Ford Winery Jazz Festival.
The musicians accompanying David this Sunday are: Paul Jost, voice; Micah Jones, bass; Larry Marshall, drums; and George Rabbai, trumpet. Please join us for this afternoon of inspiration and improvisation! Proceeds from the free will offering will benefit Kathi’s House, caring for children in Kenya. There will be a lite bites reception immediately following in the social hall. We hope to see you there!
